Laois produced a dominant second-half display to down Carlow on a 2-22 to 1-12 scoreline at Netwatch Cullen Park and land the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A title.

The O’Moore men pucked over the first three points of this decider before Carlow announced their own arrival with a Chris Nolan point and they’d go to take a 0-6 to 0-5 lead come the 19th minute.

The points of Enda Rowland and Aaron Dunphy saw Laois lead by the odd point in 17 by the interval, but it was the hosts that enjoyed the perfect restart as Marty Kavanagh hammered in their goal two minutes into the second-half.

Willie Maher’s charges came up with the ideal response that saw Mossy Keyes lashing to the Barrowsiders’ net and, from there, they’d take firm control with Jer Quinlan raising their second green flag on 42 minutes.

Dunphy, Keyes and substitute Fiachra C Fennell kept the points coming for Laois after that and it’d eventually result in a comfortable 13-point win and league silverware along with it.
