Double blow for Brennan

Life as an inter-county senior manager has not got off to the best of starts for former Kilkenny star Eddie Brennan as he has to deal with further withdrawals from the squad.

Brennan spoke before Christmas of his surprise over the fact that a number of players were not willing to commit to the senior hurling squad.

Since then Dwane Palmer has withdrawn his services from the panel and just last week Leigh Bergin walked away also.

However, Brennan told the Leinster Express that he will be focusing on the players that are committed and not on those who have left the squad.

“That’s what we’ll continue to do, the guys that are in there are who I will invest in,” stressed Brennan.

The new manager also has to plan without the likes of last year’s captain Ross King and dual star Cahir Healy who is believed to be committing to the footballers for the coming year.

Laois’ opening game in the NHL Division 1B campaign is a tough assignment against 2017 All-Ireland champions Galway on January 27th.
