Write Kilkenny defender Jackie Tyrrell off at your peril as the nine-time All-Ireland winner is back to full fitness and ready to reclaim his place in the side.

Tyrrell's last championship game came last July as a number of injuries have curtailed his participation ever since.

A hamstring injury ruled him out of the Leinster SHC semi final win over Dublin and many felt that the 34-year-old would struggle to force his way back into the side.

However, Tyrrell stressed to the Kilkenny People that he was raring to go ahead of the provincial decider against Galway.

"The lads were back training on January 14th. I was there. I have trained hard since. The last while things have gone well and apart from the little hiccup with the injury before the Dublin game I have been feeling good."
