Kilkenny defender Cillian Buckley will not require surgery on a knee injury sustained in the club championship.
The All-Star defender injured his knee in the SHC clash against Danesfort on September 26th, which effectively ended his year.
There was a growing concern that the 23-year-old would require surgery, but that is not the case now, much to his relief.
"When it wasn't coming right I was fearing the worst, but things are looking good now," Buckley told the Kilkenny People.
"I thought I would be ok to play the following week, but the knee didn't come right. In fact, it got worse as the week progressed."
However a visit to orthopaedic surgeon Dr Tadgh O'Sullivan revealed that a few weeks rest will solve the problem.
"He told me there was no more to be done at this stage. Another four weeks rest and it should be okay. I am relieved. When it wasn't coming right I was fearing the worst and thought I might have to have surgery.
"When the knee was still sore three weeks after the x-ray suggested things were okay, I was worried. That was why it was decided I should have the scan."
