Jackie Tyrrell could be about to call time on his glittering inter-county career.
The long-serving Kilkenny defender won his ninth All-Ireland medal earlier this month, but missed the semi-final and final against Waterford and Galway respectively after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture to his ankle. However, Tyrrell has now revealed that he requires further surgery which will determine his future with the Cats.
He told local radio station Beat 102-103: "I'm 34 next year and with injuries and things like that it (retirement) is very much realistic at the minute."
