The stand which had part of its roof blown off by Storm Darwin just over a year ago at Nowlan Park reopens today.

Ardan Breathnach, or the old stand as it is better known, has been out of commission since February 12 2014, but fans of Kilkenny and Dublin will be able to access it again for today's Allianz Hurling League Division 1A clash. Following the storm, all the steel fittings and supports from the damaged roof had to be removed for health and safety reasons to make way for a new structure.

When Sky Sports broadcast their first game from Nowlan Park last summer - the Leinster SHC quarter-final between Kilkenny and Offaly - they decided to position their cameras in the storm-damaged stand rather than the usual gantry in the new stand to avoid the eyesore.
