Ballyhale Shamrocks have played down reports that they are to nominate Joey Holden for the Kilkenny captaincy for 2015.

Holden, who joined Brian Cody's squad this year, is favourite to be put forward by the Kilkenny champions for the role but club PRO Liam Grant told The Irish Daily Star: "It hasn't be discussed at all.

"Normally it will go back to the committee in the club and they will nominate.

"With what's been going on with the Leinster club final, it's been put on the backburner. It is not something Kilkenny are putting us under any pressure of yet.

"You need to be giving it to someone who is fairly sure of their place."
