April 17, 2014
There was some thrilling action in the first round of the Kilkenny senior hurling league last weekend.

In a real thriller at Nowlan Park on Sunday, Michael Fennelly's late, late goal gave Ballyhale Shamrocks a dramatic 2-16 to 2-14 victory over county champions Clara. Colin Fennelly got the winners' other major, while Liam Ryan netted twice for Clara.

In Callan, in another brilliant contest, Carrickshock edged out Tullaroan by 3-13 to 2-13.

Rower-Inistioge had two points to spare against Dicksboro at Thomastown (1-13 to 1-11) and there were also wins for Erin's Own, O'Loughlin Gaels and James Stephens against Fenians, St Martin's and Danesfort respectively.
