For Darren Mullen, facing his brother in an All-Ireland final wasn't "any different from normal".

Darren was centre back on the St Kieran's College side that defeated Kilkenny CBS in last weekend's All-Ireland colleges senior hurling final at Nowlan Park. His brother Kevin was on the opposition team.

"I didn't think about it too much," Darren told The Kilkenny People. "With everything that was going on around the game, I tried to push it to one side and keep my focus on the match.

"I didn't want to get too nervous and let that affect how I played. It wasn't any different from normal.

"We took each day the same, even down to the morning of the match. Saturday was a regular match day for us. We carried on the same way.

"We came into Nowlan Park together with our father before going our separate ways to join up with our teams. We wished each other well before running out with the schools." Tweet
