Sarsfields and Athy will contest this year's Kildare SFC final on Sunday, October 18.

New Kildare senior football manager Cian O'Neill was amongst the St Conleth's Park attendance for today's SFC semi-final double and, in the first game, he saw Sarsfields finish with 10 points to spare (1-14 to 0-7) over Celbridge.

The Newbridge outfit enjoyed a 0-6 to 0-3 interval cushion and the second-half was only four minutes old when the game's only goal was scored.

That arrived via the boot of Ray Cahill who sent the rebound from his penalty attempt to the back of the Celbridge net.

Meanwhile, in the second game, Athy, inspired by county star Niall Kelly booked their final ticket courtesy of a 0-18 to 1-7 victory over Johnstownbridge.

The game was effectively over as a contest at the halfway stage as the winners held a commanding 0-12 to 0-3 advantage.

Daniel Flynn netted a late consolation goal from the penalty spot for the losing outfit.
