Clane GAA club notes

The Clane GAA table quiz takes place tomorrow night with the first questions at 8pm- it is hoped that all sections of the club will support - it promises to be a good night's entertainment.

 

Our underage hurling section are having their Annual Awards night on Monday 2nd March in the hall - Johnny McCaffrey Dublin Senior Hurler will be on hand to present the medals - all welcome for the special occasion for the kids.

 

The second club social night on Saturday 7th March from 9pm till late. Come down and enjoy a get together for all associated with our club…Parents, Players, Mentors & Helpers! A "Clane GAA" night for everyone with great music guaranteed and finger food…

 

Do you have any old mobile phones left lying around at home? The club is collecting all mobile phones that are not in use - why not bring them down to the club when you are training next?

 

There is also a Sports Prediction sheet for 2015 available to get in the club - entry fee is only €10 and many cash prizes are guaranteed - the 1st event is the US Masters and all sheets have to be back by that point - ensure you don't miss out.

 

The Senior footballers lost their 2nd Aldridge Cup game to Kevins going down by 4 points - they now turn their attention to Sarsfields tomorrow at 4:30pm in Clane.  Please note the time change. The minor footballers continued their winning ways beating Naas comfortably - they now travel to Larries on Sunday with a 11:45 throw-in. The 2nd Minor team are home to Balyna also at 11:45 on Sunday. We had mixed results for our underage teams - the Feile team went down to Larries and the 16s beat Suncroft in the first round of the league. The Feile team travel to Suncroft on Sunday at the changed time of 12:30 whilst the 16s travel to Balyna tomorrow for a 4:15pm throw-in. The u12s also commence their league campaign on Sat 7th with Maynooth the opposition.

 

Our Senior hurlers are competing in the Leinster Hurling Comp which commences tomorrow with an away fixture to Glenealy of Wicklow. Also in the group are Lucan Sarsfields (Sat week in Clane) and Cloneen from Kilkenny (21st March away). All the rest of the hurling teams are waiting on their fixtures to commence.

 

Our U17 Ladies Footballers under the guidance of Eddie Cribbin, John Christanseen commence their league tomorrow morning away to Maynooth - we wish them the best. The Feile Ladies also commence their championship campaign on Sat 7th in Clane commencing at 10:30. Eadestown and Ballykelly are also in the group. Our Minor camogs also commence their league campaign this weekend - they play Nh Brid of Dublin at 10:15 on Sunday in Clane.

 

Our Ladies Football and Camogie sections are also training away where their fixtures will be commencing shortly - keep an eye out for details.

Our Bingo is continuing to grow every Tuesday night at 8:30pm in the hall - many top cash prizes each week including a chance to win the Jackpot that is over €2,050 - all welcome to participate. If anyone would like to help out with the Bingo, please contact Dave Cahill and you will be more than welcome

 

The club Lotto is now at €8,400 this coming Saturday 28th Feb  - tickets can be bought in the bar after 4pm or through the usual sellers. Tickets cost €2 or 3 for €5. Results from 21st Feb: Nos 13, 16, 21, 24. No Winner. €25 winners: E O'Doherty, Mick Morris x 2 and Siobhan Delaney.

 

Our Games Development committee are currently working with Croke Park and their company to get our new website up and running. It is hoped that the website will contain all the current news, fixtures, results, pitch timetables, training programmes etc all available at the click of a mouse.

Our Clubhouse Café seems to be going down a treat with the locals at the minute - the girls are serving teas, coffees and scones from 8:45am to 4pm. There is a kiddies corner with safety play mats so that the little ones can also enjoy the experience. All welcome! The Leinster Leader have approached us and are doing a write-up on the café - so it is great to get a bit of exposure

 

Kildare GAA are hosting an Adult Referee Training Course - if you would like to become a ref, contact Paddy Moore and he will add you onto the list.
