Sarsfields V Celbridge Sarsfields opened their U15 Autumn League campaign with a home game against Celbridge last night.

Quickly into their stride, the visitors opened the scoring in the 1st minute with a well taken goal. Sarsfields hit back with goals from Aine Fisher on 3 and 6 mins. Celbridge steadied the ship with points on 9 and 18 mins but Melissa O'Brien extended Sarsfields lead on 22 mins with another well taken goal. Ciara price tagged on a point for Sarsfields on 24 mins but Celbridge finished the half strongly with two well taken points on 26 and 27 mins. Half Time: Sarsfields 3 1 Celbridge 1 4 The second half started as brightly as the first. Aine Fisher opened the scoring with a point on 3 mins but Celbridge not to be outdone pointed on 5 and 8 mins. Sarsfields dominated for long periods in the second half.

A Sophie Murphy point on 10 mins and a score from the dominant Melissa O'Brien on 12 mins kept the Sash girls on track. This was followed up by a Sophie Murphy goal on 14 mins. Elaine Keogh added two points on 18 and 19 mins followed by two more points by Melissa O'Brien on 22 and 23 mins. Celbridge fought bravely and pointed on 25 mins but the Sash rallied with a well taken goal by Aine Fisher on 26 mins and two points from Eimer Maher and Hayley O'Donohue on 26 and 27 mins. The final score of the game went to the visitors on 29 mins.

It was a very entertaining game of football, full of commitment from both sides with Sarsfields coming out on top. The Sash forwards took their scores well but their job was made easier by solid displays from their goalkeeper, full back line and midfield. Celbridge can take heart from a good team display and I have no doubt they will get stronger as the League goes on. Well done to all involved.
