Having won Div 6 in 2013 Carbury U13 girls made the massive step up to Div 2 with a tough away trip to Ballykelly in this opening round game. A total of 19 girls made the journey. Ballykelly started the stronger getting the first few scores but Carbury grew into the game and after about 10 mins edged in front, the game swung from end to end for the remainder of the first half with Carbury missing 2 clear cut goal chances. It was however to be Carbury that went in slightly ahead after a cracking first half Ballykelly 2-4 Carbury 3-3.
The second half started much the same as the first with Ballykelly starting the stronger, Carbury again weathered the storm and with 5 mins left in the game were 4 points up however Ballykelly were to get out of jail, after a mixup in the Carbury defence resulted in a deflected goal and Ballykelly were to score the games final point deep in injury time to grab a last gasp draw. Final score Ballykelly 3-9 Carbury 4-6. The carbury girls can be very proud of this their 1st outing in such a high division and can now look forward to their next game which is at home to Moorefield with great anticipation.
