Six from six for Castledermot ladies

August 27, 2014

Castledermot ladies made it six from six last night in round 6 of the Junior championship against a very strong Ballymore team. The first half produced some great football from both sides and was point for point throughout the half. Two first half goals from Shauna Doyle and Michaela Nolan helped give Castledermot a narrow lead of two points at half time. Half time score Castledermot 2-7 Ballymore 1-8. Castledermot came out a different side in the second half and showed their home support the type of football they can play. The subs introduced early on in the second half made a huge impact on the game, in particular Lorraine O'Neill getting 2 points. The defence kept Ballymore to just 5 points in the second half and their work rate helped the midfield pairing of Audrey Murphy and Laura Byrne to set up numerous attacks on the Ballymore defence. Castledermot finished the half scoring an impressive 1-12 wrapping up with a well taken goal from Roisin Kelly. Best for Castledermot on the night were Catherine Horan in full back, Roisin Horan at centre back, Colleen Murphy at wing back, Audrey Murphy in midfield, and Lorraine O'Neill in the forwards.
Final score Castledermot 3-19 Ballymore 1-13
Castledermot scorers were Michaela Nolan 1-6, Shauna Doyle 1-2, Audrey Murphy 0-4, Neasa Dooley 0-3, Roisin Kelly 1-0, Laura Byrne 0-1 and Kim Kirwan 0-1.
Next up for the ladies is the final round of the championship against St. Laurences at home.
Thanks to all the supporters who came out to support the girls. It makes a great difference to have some home support at our games.
