O'Neill puts onus on players

Kildare manager Cian O’Neill believes that his charges ‘need to look at themselves’ in regards to their performances.

The Lilywhites looked to be cruising to victory against Tipperary last weekend, but they needed a couple of late scores to secure the win.

The side has been accused of switching off during games and this was probably a prime example of that.

Speaking to the Leinster Leader, O’Neill stated that the management can only do so much and that the players have to take responsibility.

“Very often the whole narrative is about the manager and the backroom team and what they are doing in training but there are times when players need to look at themselves and even though we won that match there still needs to be a lot of deep reflection of how we need to improve,” said O’Neill.

“We need to improve next week, but we should not forget, we still have a lot to play for next week, difficult yet but we still have something to aim for.”
