Stack, Tony

August 30, 2007
The community were saddened to learn of the death after a short illness in New York of Tony Stack formerly of Tullahinell, Asdee. A member of a very well known and highly respected family Tony had been in the United States for 49 years living in the Yonkers and Bronx areas of New York. Tony was home on holidays in his native parish two years ago and enjoyed meeting up with all his relatives friends and neighbours in the area. Despite being away for so long Tony still kept closely in touch with happenings at home. He was very active in the Irish emigrant groups in New York and was a great Gaelic football fan. He attended Gaelic Park in New York on a regular basis and was an ardent fan of the Kerry senior football team. In his youth Tony was a very accomplished footballer and was a member of the Asdee team that won the North Kerry Intermediate Championship in 1956. He was involved in the construction trade in New York where he made many good friends. His job took him to all parts of the city and he was very well liked everywhere he travelled. Tony's immense popularity in New York was evidenced by the huge crowds that turned out for his Funeral Mass at The Visitation church in new York and again at the interment which took place to The Gates of Heaven Cemetery in New York. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, Christine, daughters; Erica, Siobhan and Krystal, sisters; Eileen, Peg, Kitty and Mary, brothers; Phil, Jim, Brendan, Mick and Patsy.
