Kerry club SFC: Crokes and Dingle for final

May 18, 2015

Dr.Crokes' Johnny Buckley has the ball as Darren Bourke of Monaleen closes in during the 2010 Munster Club SFC quarter final in Killarney.

Dr Crokes and Dingle recorded wins over Rathmore and Austin Stacks respectively in Tralee yesterday to qualify for the Kerry club SFC final.

Crokes withstood a second half comeback from Rathmore to prevail on a 1-17 to 2-10 scoreline. The Killarney men raced into a 0-9 to 0-0 lead inside the first quarter and looked to be home and hosed when Johnny Buckley netted in the 24th minute to give them a 1-13 to 0-4 interval lead.

But inspired by county full back Aidan O'Mahony, who returned to the fray after going off injured, Rathmore bossed the second half and Crokes were left hanging on for victory after Donal O'Sullivan scored a second goal for the Cork-border outfit late on.

In the other semi-final, Dingle stunned county champions Austin Stacks with a 3-10 to 0-11 win. Stacks, who were crowned 2014 senior league champions at Dr Crokes expense the previous weekend, had looked the most likely winners until a Paul Geaney goal left the West Kerry men trailing by the minimum, 1-3 to 0-7, at half-time.

Dingle took control in the second half thanks to further goals from Geaney and Barry O'Sullivan.
