Kerry celebrate after promotion to Division 1B. INPHO

Eamonn Kelly was still questioning why the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A winners aren't automatically promoted to Division 1B after Kerry's sensational victory over Antrim on Saturday.

The Kingdom made amends for their defeat to Offaly in last year's promotion/relegation playoff to make the ascent after substitute John Egan's late point handed them a 2-16 to 1-18 win at Parnell Park.

"The system? I don't mind now, we're on the other side of it! If you win your division, you should really go up and I'm saying that aside from what happened here.

"There's nearly a glass ceiling stopping the 2A teams going up."

On the prospect of playing at a higher level next year, the Tipperary native added: "Hopefully we can hold our own now. Antrim have been very competitive all year in Division 1B. They've only lost some games by one or two points, we went toe-to-toe with them so maybe we're not that far away."
