Playing his first hurling game in four years on Saturday, former Footballer of the Year Paul Galvin made a big impact as Lixnaw defeated Abbeydorney at Austin Stack Park to qualify for the last four of the Kerry SHC.

Galvin, who brought the curtain down on his illustrious football career last February, came off the bench with 10 minutes remaining and proceeded to set up two crucial points for Ricky Heffernan and James Flaherty as Lixnaw prevailed on a 1-14 to 2-8 scoreline. It was Galvin's first appearance for them since lining out against Ballyduff in the 2010 county final.

Lixnaw are joined in the semi-finals by St. Brendan's, Kilmoyley and Ballyduff, with the latter having turned on the style in the second half to beat Crotta O'Neill's by 1-22 to 0-13.
