Brendan was dedicated to his family, his business and his club

Brendan O'Mahony, Racecourse Road, Tralee and O'Mahony's Bakery Boherbee, passed away peacefully in his loving family on February 18th

He was born 59 years ago to Jack and Mary O'Mahony and was raised in Boherbee with his brothers and sisters. Brendan attended the CBS school and the Technical College and joined the family bakery business at the age of 16. He took immense pride in his work, rising daily in rain, hail or shine to be at work at 6 o'clock, something he continued to do up to very recently.

Brendan's life revolved around his family - wife Margaret, son Brendan and daughter Carol, all of whom he adored - the bakery and the John Mitehel's Football Club. When he married Margaret McElligott, they moved into Racecourse Road where they spent many happy years together. Brendan was truly over- joyed at the arrival of his granddaughters Amy, Ella, Chloe, Millie and Leah and he doted on them.

Brendan was a quiet, unassuming man, always with a ready smile and good word to say about everyone. He was very caring and this manifested itself particularly during his own father's illness when he cared for him with kindness and compassion. Over the years he visited his mother daily to share with her all the news of the day. Brendan was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in planting and growing his own vegetables;

He enjoyed a flutter on the horses and would study the form in the Racing Post religiously. He never missed a race meeting at Ballybeggan and Listowel and travelled countrywide to various race meetings. He enjoyed meeting friends from far and wide there, where racing tips - good and bad - were shared.

Brendan was a very committed member of the John Mitchels Club, both as a player and officer, holding many officership positions in the club. He was overjoyed to see his son Brendan develop into a wonderful clubman and footballer and took great pride in Brendan Jnr winning a Junior All Ireland medal in 2012.

He adored his daughter Carol and they would spend many hours chatting and spending quality time together. When Brendan's first granddaughter Amy was born, she was the apple of his eye and was constantly by his side, attending matches, race meetings and many different events together.

His presence in his home, in the bakery in Boherbee and in his community is greatly missed and the world is a sadder place without him.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, son Brendan, daughter Carol, mother Mary, granddaughters, brothers, sisters, son-in-law Marcus, daughter-in-law Natasha, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews,
