The family of the late Michael Kennedy of Kilkenny and formerly of Knuckawn, Annascaul would like thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss. Michael passed away on 6th January, following a four year illness which he fought courageously to the end.
Born to Patrick and Mary Kennedy of Knockane, Annascaul in 1940, Michael had one sister, Mary and six brothers, Tom (RIP), Pat, Dan, John, Pete and Jerry. Michael met and later married Noreen O'Hara from Kilmoyley and having lived in London for a number of years, the moved to Kilkenny in 1976 where Michael opened a new Texaco service station in the city. Michael successfully ran this business until his retirement in 2000.
Though living in Kilkenny for the last 35 years, Michael was a proud Kerryman who enjoyed frequent trips back home and also to Croke Park to see the Kerry team in action. During the1980s Michael was prominent member of Kerry Association in Kilkenny and the Kerry GAA Jersey was one of the offertory gifts at his funeral Mass.
A large number of mourners from near and far attended funeral prayers at Michael's home and his funeral Mass in St. Fiacre's Church in Loughboy, Kilkenny, with burial in Foulkstown cemetery.
Micheal will be deeply missed by his loving wife Noreen, daughters Teresa and Jackie, his son Michael, his grandchildren Lisa, Gerard, Owen, Rebecca and Chloe, sons-in-law Michael and Tommy, his brothers and sister, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and his many friends.
May he rest in peace.
