Longford manager Ray Gavin is pleased by their start to the Allianz NHL 3B campaign, but stressed they have plenty of work to do.

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, the former Westmeath hurler admitted to being relieved to come away with a win against Leitrim last weekend.

The Connacht side almost came from 15 points down to snatch a late win, but Gavin's charges held on for the victory.

"On the positive side we didn't lose the game and at the end of the day, we have played two, won two so what more can we do. We have lots to work on.

"These lads need to realise that no matter what level you play at, nothing comes easy. You can't just turn up when you feel like it, you got to come in prepared.

"Some lads might have learned that against Leitrim, and if they didn't learn it, they're certainly going to be told about it when they go into the dressingroom. Two out of two, what more can we ask for."
