Nowlan Park in need of some TLC

November 24, 2016

Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

Nowlan Park will undergo some remedial work over the winter months.

The Kilkenny county grounds' has been used consistently over the last few months when underfoot conditions were not the greatest.

During this period, the pitch has cut up and it is in need of repair before the 2017 campaign gets under way.

County Board chairman Ned Quinn told the Kilkenny People that they have put a plan in place to repair the pitch with the minimum of fuss.

"We are aware of the problem and we have a plan to sort it out," stated the Kilkenny chairman.

Science is playing a big part in the restoration work as a laboratory in England has tested soil and sod samples from the pitch.

Over 200kgs of a durable rye seed have been sown into the field after heavy aeration in a bid to make the pitch more durable.
