Outgoing Wexford manager Liam Dunne has been backed by just five clubs in the county to retain his position for a sixth year.

Dunne has announced his intention to stay at the helm for another year, but he looks set to face stiff opposition if speculation is anything to go by.

The former All-Ireland winner was nominated by his own club Oulart-The Ballagh, while selector Ger Cushe's club Naomh Eanna and other Wexford selectors Tom Foley (Rathnure) and Aidan O'Connor (Buffer's Alley) clubs also nominated Dunne as did Bannow-Ballymitty.

However, many inside the county feel that an outsider is needed to bring Wexford back to the glory days.

Names such as Anthony Cunningham, Anthony Daly, Frank Flannery, Jerry Wallace and Tommy Dunne have all been linked with the job in recent weeks.
