Wily old Fox!

Damien Fox may have set a record when he played in an Offaly JHC game last weekend at the age of 55.

The former Laois hurling manager lined out at midfield for Tullamore in their 2-2 to 2-12 defeat to neighbours Ballinamere and, as usual, gave it his all before being replaced with 10 minutes remaining. Fox owes Tullamore absolutely nothing, having first made his name as a forward before ending his senior career as a goalkeeper. Indeed, he was the Blues' number one when they ended a 45-year wait for Offaly SHC honours in 2009.

While Laois has been his most high-profile managerial role, the evergreen Fox has also managed a host of club sides, including Tinnahinch (Laois), Castletown-Geoghegan (Westmeath) and Lucan Sarsfields (Dublin).
