Brian Ryan has revealed that he was eager to stay on as Limerick minor hurling manager for another term.

Ryan was replaced by Leo O'Connor by the Limerick County Board and the replacement was ratified last night (Thursday). Despite, guiding the county to consecutive Munster titles, Ryan was removed from role.

The former manager told the Limerick Leader that he had informed the county board of his desire to either stay with the minors or take on a role with the county's under-21 management team after Ciaran Carey was replaced by John Kiely.

"I spoke to the county board and made my intentions known that I would have liked to stay on as minor manager," said Ryan. "I have done a lot of work with many of the players and we had 14 players that are underage again next season."
