"There's plenty of time over the next couple of weeks to ponder the future"

Anthony Daly isn't going to rush any decision on his future as Dublin senior hurling manager.

The two-time All-Ireland winning Clare captain has been in charge of the sky blues for the past six years and is licking his wounds this evening after they finished second best to Tipperary in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-final.

When the subject of his future was raised in an interview with RTE's The Sunday Game programme, he replied: "I came to try and win an All-Ireland quarter-final today, there's plenty of time over the next couple of weeks to ponder the future.

"You never think about a decision like that coming into a game like this. You are just totally focussed on getting a result. You're not in a proper position to make that call.

"But look, maybe it is time to let somebody else at it, we'll see over the next couple of weeks what way it goes."

'Dalo' was, naturally, disappointed with his side's performance in their 0-15 to 2-23 defeat.

"You win Leinster last year, the league a couple of years ago, there's only one place you want to go.

"Unfortunately, while it looked very promising for us after winning the relegation play-off and beating Wexford down in Wexford, it looked like we might kick on but we didn't in the last two games and lost out heavily to Kilkenny and Tipp.

"You can't hide from it, we did and that's the bottom line."
