Ciaran Kilkenny had a weekend to remember.
Less than 24 hours after starring for Ireland in their International Rules second Test rout of Australia, the young dual ace scored three points from full forward for his club Castleknock in their Dublin JHC 'A' final victory over Lucan Sarsfields on Sunday afternoon.
Kilkenny says the club success is right up there with anything else he has achieved, including the All-Ireland football medal he won with Dublin last month.
"It's great to have come through the game with the win. It is a very special feeling, winning something with the lads," he explained to The Herald.
"Castleknock is where I started off playing and to win something with people that you grew up with and knocked about with is a wonderful feeling.
"We are a really tight-knit group and the club was only founded in 1998 and we are going from strength-to-strength, winning the Dublin and Leinster Junior Football Championships last year and now we've won the Dublin (JHC)."
With Leinster club JHC and college campaigns looming, the 20-year-old is sure to be kept busy between now and Christmas.
"It would be nice to get a little break, alright, but playing in big matches with your pals is what Gaelic games are all about and, hopefully, there will be a few more matches for us to look forward to over the next few weeks," he added.
