Dundalk side Naomh Moninne ended Knockbridge's five-year reign as Louth SHC kingpins with a three-point victory at Castlebellingham yesterday.

A second half goal from Dermot Plunkett, who captained Knockbridge to one of their five triumphs, proved decisive as the challengers staged a thrilling comeback to pull off a shock win.

Points from Peter Brennan, Kevin McNally and Ronan Byrne had given the champions a 0-7 to 0-4 interval lead, and when McNally extended their lead on the restart, the signs looked ominous for Moninne.

But a scrambled goal from Plunkett brought them back into it before two frees from Diarmuid Murphy and an injury-time point from Darren O'Hanrahan handed the Dundalk men a famous win.
