Stephen Molumphy is ready to resume his intercounty career with Waterford after returning from peacekeeping duty in Chad.

The Ballyduff Upper clubman spent four months as a platoon leader with the Irish Army in the impoverished African nation but returned home on January 25.

An All Star in 2007, he was co-captain of the Decies last season. He is now set to rejoin the Waterford panel ahead of the forthcoming national hurling league.

Whilst in Chad, Molumphey had to contend with scorching temperatures of 35 Degrees. He'll have no such worries now... Tweet
