Quain, Mick

The Late Mick Quain The death has taking place of former well known referee Mick Quain who had the distinction of officiating at Galway championship matches until he was 70. A native of Cratloe in Co. Clare, Mick came to Galway in 1946 and was soon taking charge of hurling, football and camogie games in his adopted county. Aged 89 and lived in Renmore, Mick officiated at six Galway senior hurling finals - 1948, '56, '57, '58, '59 and 1981 - and during his illustrious referring career was the man in the middle for a staggering total of over 5,500 games.
