Anthony Cunningham is expected to dig his heels in and fight to retain his position as Galway hurling manager.

Cunningham met with county board officials last night in the wake of the players' heave against him, and early reports suggest that he is determined to remain at the helm.

The players passed a motion of 'no confidence' in the St. Thomas' clubman after he was reappointed by the county board last week for a fifth year without them having an input. The revolt against Cunningham comes less than a month after he led the Tribesmen to their second All-Ireland final appearance in three years.
