Comer happy to get job done

New York's JJ Matthews with Galway's Damien Comer during the Connacht Senior Championship preliminary round game at Gaelic Park, New York.

Galway forward Damien Comer admits there was a nervousness in their play against New York.

The Tribesmen started slowly against the Exiles in New York last Sunday before running out convincing winners in their Connacht SFC clash.

Comer, who scored one of their two goals, and finished the game with 1-04 told the Tuam Herald that getting the win was the most important.

"It was a good win," said Comer. "We probably didn't look too convincing in the first 15-20 minutes. Coming in as such heavy favourites did breed a bit of nervousness in the camp, while playing in a different country with different weather and a different surface brought its own challenges too.

"Thankfully after they threw everything at us early on, we settled and broke down their defence."
