Super-sub Walsh delighted

December 19, 2014

Gort substitute Wayne Walsh was delighted to get on the end of the move that earned them their second goal as they claimed their first county title since 2011.

Walsh was only on the field ten minutes when he walked in Gort's second goal which helped claim the county title and dethrone champions Portumna.

"I was only on a few minutes," Walsh told the Connacht Tribune. "The lads have done massive work out the field to get it in and it just bounced right for me and I was there to tap it in.

"The ball kind of broke, Richie (Cummins) saw me inside, and it bounced for me. After that I don't really know what happened, it was all a bit of a scramble, but it got there in the end and that's all that matters."
