U21s to backbone intermediate team

July 25, 2014
Galway will be effectively using tomorrow's All-Ireland IHC semi-final against Cork in Tullamore as preparation for the All-Ireland U21HC.

The decision to field what will predominantly be an U21 team was taken in light of the fact that the All-Ireland IHC is being played a month earlier this year. Johnny Kelly is over both teams and will be calling on players such as Shane Mannion, John Hanbury, Barry Keane, Dean Higgins, Adrian Tuohy, Shane Moloney and Ronan O'Meara for this game, which throws in at 2.30pm, and forms the first part of an attractive triple-header which also features the Galway's All-Ireland football qualifier against Tipperary at 7pm.

The U21s who are ineligible for this grade owing to the fact that they have played senior this year are Paul Killeen, Padraig Brehony, Cathal Mannion, Jason Flynn and Jonathan Glynn.
