Mulholland: Tipp a potent force

Galway football manager Alan Mulholland is under no illusion as to the size of the task facing his charges tomorrow night.

The Tribesmen will lock horns with a high-flying Tipperary outfit in their Round Four SF Qualifier at Tullamore and Mulholland accepts that it's a perilous assignment considering the rapid progress the Premier County have made this season - winning Division Four of the league and coming within a point of Cork in their Munster semi-final before ousting Longford and Laois from the All-Ireland race:

"Tipperary were certainly unlucky not to beat Cork in the Munster semi-final and since then it has been obvious that wasn't a one off performance," Mulholland observes in The Irish Times.

"They posted huge scores against Longford and Laois and we are fully aware of just how potent they are up front.

"We were disappointed with our performance in the Connacht final but we believe we have learned a lot from that game and our preparation for the Tipperary match has been very good."
