Hoare doesn't feel any pressure

Galway's Eddie Hoare and Finian Hanley and David Moran of Kerry during the NFL.
Eddie Hoare believes the pressure is off Galway to a certain extent as they prepare to face Mayo in today's Connacht SFC final.

The St. Michael's attacker, who made his championship debut at the age of 27 against London in May, feels the Tribesmen can play without fear now that they've achieved their goal of reaching the last 12 of the championship.

"The pressure is off us in some ways," he tells the Connacht Tribune.

"Irrespective of what happens, we are still in the last 12 in the country. At the start of the year, we would have definitely been pitching ourselves as in the top 12 in the country, we are there now and the shackles can be taken off a small bit and hopefully we can express ourselves and get to the last eight if possible.

"What we want to do is put in a performance that we are proud of and that Galway people are proud of. Last year, I know, from speaking to some of the lads who were involved, they've bottled up a lot of that hurt and hopefully that will come out and show positively on Sunday.

"Mayo are going for four-in-a-row, they're around a long time. They have set the bar in Connacht for the last number of years and it is going to be a great gauge in terms of where we are at in our development."
