Galway manager Alan Mulholland is confident that they are finding their form at just the right time.

Last weekend's win over Armagh has left the Tribesmen with their fate in their own hands as a win over promotion chasing Monaghan will guarantee their safety.

Even in defeat, there are many permutations that could keep the Connacht side in Division Two, but Mulholland feels that improved performances over the last three matches have breathed new confidence into the side.

Speaking to the Connacht Tribune he said: "It's a big game for us and we believe that we have improved a lot over the course of our last three matches.

"We did have a bad start against Louth but came back very strongly and should have won the game - the Monaghan match though will give us a good idea of where we stand, as we look ahead to the championship.

"If we don't win, then we're relying on outside factors to keep us up. But we've put a nice little run together and if we can get more consistency over the 70 minutes, and tackle our lull period in games, then I think that we have a real chance."
