Galway missed out on a place in the FBD League final, despite enjoying a comfortable victory over GMIT at Tuam Stadium.

The Tribesmen were always in control, having taken a 0-7 to 0-3 lead into the break thanks to four unanswered points from Sean Armstrong (two) and Michael Martin (two). And they extended their advantage after the break, despite having James Kavanagh, Sean Denvir and Mark Hehir dismissed on black cards.

Galway manager Alan Mulholland declared himself happy with his side's performance as they now turn their attention to Meath in the first round of the Allianz League on February 2.

"I was happy with the fact that we held them to six points," he said.

"I'm disappointed that we didn't make the final. In the game against Leitrim we could have played a little bit better. Having said that, it is all about the first round of the league against Meath."
