The hunt for the next Galway senior hurling manager continues with a list of candidates believed to be interested in the position.

In what has been a prolonged affair that saw some strange situations occur as the three people initially interested in the job, Tony Ward, Noel Larkin and Francis Forde all pulled out of the running.

Now, the Connacht Tribune have revealed a list of five potential candidates who are believed to be in the running to replace Michaél Donoghue.

Front runners from inside the county are former Galway captain Damien Joyce, St Thomas manager Kevin Lally, while former Limerick hurlers Ciaran Carey and Shane O’Neill are in the frame alongside ex-Clare captain and Dublin manager Anthony Daly.

The selection committee of Michael Larkin, Paul Bellew, Noel Lane and John Fahey are set to choose their preferred candidate by the end of next week.
