Galway's Donal O'Shea and Paul Walsh of Kerry have been named as the Electric Ireland Minor Hurler and Footballer of the Year respectively.

A son of former Tipperary senior hurling manager Eamon O'Shea, Salthill-Knocknacarra clubman O'Shea scored 1-37 in four games as Galway retained the Irish Press Cup. His 0-10 haul against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final was crucial to the young Tribesmen's success.

Walsh, meanwhile, starred for Kerry as they completed an unprecedented five-in-a-row of All-Ireland minor football titles. The Brosna clubman scored 1-7 in the Munster final win over Clare and notched three points in the All-Ireland semi-final against Monaghan and another four as Galway were accounted for in the Tom Markham Cup decider.

O’Shea and Walsh were announced as part of this year’s Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Awards today. The event celebrated the Minor Football and Hurling Teams of the Year, who were joined by their families and representatives from their County boards and management teams in Croke Park.
