The Dubs Propaganda Machine - 16 Like(s)
The Dubs propaganda machine has kicked into gear proper this week with diamonds from manager Jim Gavin blaming cold play for Dean Rocks black card.

Also Charlie Redmonds attack on Jim McGuinness for calling Jim Gavin out on the Diarmuid Connolly fiasco.

And then last night I read Alan Brogan going to town on Nial Morgan for goading a player when the Dubs team under Pillar took that art to new heights them selves in the naughties.

Who's next on the Dubs propaganda hit list? Let's watch this space.

Pat Spillane - "Dubs Can Be Rattled" - 7 Like(s)

Replying To jimbodub:  "Fair play to you Pat there's a few that could do well to listen to you! Any top team with their crap together can and have rattled this Dublin team across this decade. They've also done more than rattle Dublin.. but they've convincingly beaten them! It's been hugely competitive stuff. Some of the most incredible games you're ever likely to witness. Just think back.. think of the classic games witnessed across this decade. No cake walk All Ireland's this decade! It's a pity that hasn't been adequately recognised by a sort of oddly self serving revisionism which doesn't tally up with the games themselves.. but there's an agenda there and there's a lot being conveniently forgotten about to serve it. Which again is a pity. It should be about more than that. The doom and gloomers will have you believe Dublin are almost invisible! Utter rubbish. Daft. The stats are there in black and white and Mr Spillane is spot on in this regard and this decade will continue to be hugely competitive across 2018. Just like every other Football championship across this decade. It's already been proven across NFL Div 1 2018 and Pat.. you'll be proven right across the Championship 2018."
Ye have the refs and home advantage and all the money , that's hard to beat jim.

Did Jonny Cooper dive? - 7 Like(s)

Replying To The_Fridge:  "Just seen the replays. I feel he did make a meal of it. No contact to the head however he held his head as if it was. I remember he was involved in an incident in the league against Tyrone with Mark Bradley and he hit the deck after instigating a row. Duscuss."
It was an awful dive by Jonny cooper and not a word on the Sunday game about it. Jonny is good at running into fellas and getting them booked, remember Seamus O'Shea in 2015 and Brendan Murphy this year just to name a few.

Did Jonny Cooper dive? - 7 Like(s)

Replying To jimbodub:  "Def made a meal of the contact But considering Kingdomboy up there was accusing Connolly out for "man handling" an official It's funny to see his attitude now considering McManus made much greater contact"
Number 1 Jim , McManus didn't man handle a linesman. Number 2 Jim , Ciaran branagan didn't run and barge into Connolly. So they are very different incidents and des Cahill should have brought it up for discussion tonight.

Dublin' Costello throwing away the kicking tees - 6 Like(s)

Replying To tipp11:  "Clutching at straws a little bit comparing these. There's loads of incidents of do anything to win the game out there not just these....i remember Barry John Keane I think it was kicking a ball off a tee as keeper was set up to kick it out, last year in the women's game tipp were 1 point down to clare and were about to take a 45, clare player booted the ball away when everyone was set up and kick about to happen, turned out after getting a talking to the clock ran down and tipp had a single kick instead of a chance of getting on a second ball. Loads of incidents of unsportsmanlike behaviour out there."
Ya you're right but the eye gouging by Ogara has to be the worst IMO and not a word said about it?

Replying To Dubh_linn:  "Happy Christmas and New Year. Santa's been good already with JG staying involved for another few years. Looking forward to 2019."
I read that jim Gavin was staying on as Dublin manager on RTÉ.ie dubh linn , but they used an interesting choice of words in their report, they reported jim Gavin has signed a new 3 year contract with Dublin , why would a man giving of his Time "freely" need a contract ?

Dublin refusing to do one-on-one broadcast interviews - 6 Like(s)

Replying To Joxer:  "Glad to see Dublin take a stand on it. If other counties are ok with Spillane being judge, jury and executioner every time one of their players crosses the line then let them continue to be sheep. It's important that the all powerful anslysts are put back in their box and denying them interviews is a subtle enough message that teams won't stand for on-the-pitch decisions being overturned by wasnabe sports hacks in the SG studio. It's nothing that Harte hasn't been doing for years anyway."
Connolly man handled the linesman not pat Spillane. The sooner ye let him take responsibility for his own actions the better it'll be for him.

Joe brolly has the cheek to lambast pat Spillane tonight on the Sunday game when all pat did was state that Connolly broke the rules and would have to suffer the consequences. All this after brolly tore into Sean cavanagh after he took down McManus in 2013 and he questioned Sean's manhood. Brolly just showed us what we all knew already and that's that he's nothing more than an attention seeker.

Lads thanks for yer hospitality yesterday, we had a great day in clones and had great craic down the square and with yer fans, in fairness we robbed ye at the end as ye were by far the better team, I still think ye will get a good result against Galway and put us out of our missery and best of luck to ye in the rest of the championship .

Kerry V Dublin - 5 Like(s)

Replying To jimbodub:  "Excuse me now! Haha I've travelled NSEW supporting Dublin but I'm no spring chicken anymore and as a family man I can't be getting to every game. I served my time when it was appropriate to do so and to that I can be sure. I'm sure you can't get to all the away games yourself despite best efforts but the advantage is Dublin are the big show and sure more often than not if I can't get to a game I'll have a plan b in place and watch it on the box or record it. I've been to Dublin club games, Charity games, O'Byrne cup and League games over the last few months and nope I wasn't at every single game granted but you see I've other stuff to juggle as I'm sure you do Chief. I've a family to consider and well I'm lucky to have such a problem. I mean Kerry fans are known for not travelling and I completely understand that. As you grow you've got to pick your battles and after being to the last two games.. 3 weeks on the bounce just isn't really doable for me anymore but good luck to those that have the time/freedom/drive to do so."
Iv a family a farm to run and we're from an daingean in west Kerry, we did a round trip of 860km to Cavan on Sunday and we haven't missed a game in over 10 years and that was due to a family wedding that we couldn't get out of. If the club finals weren't clashing with the Kerry game this weekend we be above at them as well. Dublin have about 5 away games a year so no excuse really for yer fans not traveling. And only 14, 000 at crokepark Saturday night at a double header?

What Happens If New York Win? - 5 Like(s)

Replying To sam1884:  "Talk of New York going well and Jamie Clarke likely to play, what happens if they win the first round game. Is it likely New York would travel to Ireland for a Semi final and what is the implications for Leitrim?!"
There wouldn't be a cow milked in New York if they win.

Kerry V Dublin - 5 Like(s)

Replying To TheUsername:  "So onto the game itself. I was accused of being petulant with my well dones just after the game. I was probably being frank and gave my concrete thoughts and didn't sugar coat it, a couple of days on the sauce might not have helped, so apologies for that if anyone was offended, that wasn't my intention. A very entertaing and exciting game. I know the narrative was it was a great game, personally I didnt think so, exciting and entertaing , definitely. But I think there is plenty of head room in terms of skills and quality from both teams. Dublin started with the U25s largely and the footballing terminators that seem to be Rock, McCarthy and Cooper, a couple of old hands were called from the bench later in the day for a stretch of the legs. Kerry made up largely of some new lads, some we have seen in rennet years and a few old veterans. A good mix of layers of generation, for what you need. Look well prepared and drilled, had a clear game plan and did done their home work in Dublin. You can tell Donnie Buckley is involved the Kerry defense have the made in Mayo look about them. Good defensive structure, swarm defense and the quick counter, may as well be Mayo of recent years. Kerry played with every inch a team hurt by the Dubs with a five in a row and knocked out with a whimper in the Championship in 2018, taking the whole laying a marker thing at name value. Great intensity and desire. Dublin, in all honestly played with a basic man to man shape, set positions, and very little tactic. It's long been my thought that Jim let's the lads of the leash in the league and gets them to think it out. So no seeeper or anything of the like. Basically trade punches and think it out. Dublin have struggled with this approach without Kilkenny and to a lessor extent Connolly pulling the strings. So early blows traded fairly equal until, the second quarter and Kerry really pulled away, with a resilient enough defensive system working well and Dublin being a bit cocky in pocession with with bad decisions or getting caught on the turnover. I mentioned the Mayo defense system and Kerry countered well with pace, athleticism and something Mayo never had, lethal finishing. Kerry really gave an exhibitition in this quarter of finishing. Dublin looked a bit leggy and took the lazy option of giving frees away, where the exceptional at a dead ball O Shea gobbled them up. Kerry deservedly went in with a healthy lead at half time. Should say Kerry executed a brilliant high press, that Dublin didn't look like they expected and struggled with. Dublin came out the second half and had the run of the first ten mins, scored s could, before Kerry reasserted themselves to a four point difference, Dublin unusually wasteful, and trusting in their lateral game when for me a more direct game was required. Kerry struggled for points from play second half and largely relied on frees the Dubs to easily coughed up. Both teams emptied their bench and as it entered the last quarter Dublin turned the screw, flashing of the few points when needed, ultimately to draw level. To Kerry's huge credit, they lifted their head and went up the filed caught Dublin on the counter, backed up their man, and phased a good point. Dublin could have easily won or drawn the game, but a hit post from a free and an uncharacteristic side by Super Brian 1, in the last kick one the day for a Kerry. In all honestly Kerry really deserved it, they had more hunger and desire and the game meant more to them, so fair play. So Kerry will be happy with their win and a good chance now of being involved in the league final. Look to have unearthed a couple of good players, Moynahan, O Brien in particular caught the eye. They will be happy implementing this defensive system nice swarm tackling and blanket when required, looked to have kick out strategy and as you would expect from Kerry excellent point execution. Moving nicely toward a balance. k As a Dub, I left fairly confident in our defeat, that we still have to much for them if we meet in the a Championship. If I'm honest I thought they had a bit more coming through, I see a couple of good additions but many names who've been there and not done it. The back three are very small and can really be got at, they are tenacious in the tackle but lack any sort of power or presence. A team at full pelt is going to dominate them and hb line will have to drop to compensate and eventually you get nailed. Also I thought the Kerry keeper was poor, you'd really fancy your chances of goals, once you in behind that back line. Midfield as well is an area Kerry are light have to flood, another area that can be exploited. Going forward Kerry looked great, but it's important to say Dublin played without its usual sweeper system, I'd be confident enough shoring up, with Cian O Sullivan, Philly and Cluxton coming back into that defense and Jonny going back to three. From a Dublin perspective, it was a great game to bring the lads on, look about 65% fit and to bring the intensity we know we can. But with the year that's in it you can understand giving prolonged breaks and having a bit of craic in the league. Micky Fitz had another mare for the second week running. Young Gavin had a useful game, he needs coaching but he can be an influence. Was delighted young Even stuck the course, he had a challenging night and you could wipe, 4 or 5 of the score board if Cluxton was there, but will stand to him. Good expierence for the young lads there are games you have to show character and for these young lads the game will stand. We struggled with the Kerry's high press at times so that needs to be looked at. But I feel Kerry have showed there hand now and how they will play, Gavin gave absolutely nothing away and if we meet again it will be a very different Dublin team and game. Imaging a Dublin forward line of Mannion, Con, Costello, Howard, Kilkenny, Costello bearing down in that Kerry defense! ;) Much work to be done at the back but motoring well. We didn't deserve but still could of won it. We rarely do well down in Kerry, draw the last game and beaten in 15 in Killarney. All to play for Kerry will be confident by that morale boosting win, Dublin will also be confident. Anything can happen in 70 mins in football should our paths cross again in the summer, or maybe with the rub of the green in a few weeks! ;) Thanks for the hospitality lads."
These two posts have to be the most condescending and passive aggressive posts Iv ever read, is that what you were going for? Might save these posts and read them again when I have trouble sleeping.

National League 2017 - 4 Like(s)
Congratulations to mayo last night on a fine win and a never say die attitude, Andy Moran destroyed mark griffin and he still has a lot to offer ye'r team as he's a serious man to win the ball. There was a savage mayo support in Tralee last night and fair play to all who traveled, at least the journey home was a sweet one. Best of luck for the rest of the league.

GAA Finances & purchasing a farm. - 4 Like(s)

Replying To kildare73:  "Ah lads I've been educated on a different thread. Apparently the real problems are 1. We don't understand central funding. 2. Munster got most of it. 3. If you label funding under a different category it gets smaller. 4. None of us except Dublin came up with a decent plan on how to spend funds and even if we got it we would all build white elephants with it. It goes on and on. So looks like everything is hunky dory!"
You've hit the nail on the head there Kildare 73.
