More respect in hurling than football?

Concerning that a top referee would publicly say this about football. In no way do footballers respect each other any less than hurlers. Classic hurling snobbery if you ask me. Take Lee Keegan and Diarmuid Connolly for instance, both knocked lumps out of each other on numerous occassions but when the game is over they shake hands and show nothing but respect for each other in the media.

While I think the black card needs a lot of work in football, I feel that hurling has become more and more cynical in the past few years and could do with a rule change in this area for sure.

Respect at football matches doesn't seem like something he knows much about by the sound of reports from a junior football match.
