TG4 dont just do Division 1 matches

(Oldest Posts First)

I am one of those people that will watch and go to any match given . But when TG4 only shows division 1 matches it really annoys me . I am very very grateful and privileged that I have eir sport and premier sports on the TV that always shows as much matches as they can in all divisions , which I love . But if TG4 should in a way show more appreciation to all teams than the top teams . Also if the GAA can wisen up with picking times . They really should have them on different times because a match on a Saturday night is very easy . It would bring up attendance at matches and viewership on tv

I just want them to have the option of commentary in English, a red button or something, honestly its not rocket science.

TG4 is not a bi-lingual station, it is an Irish language station, why oh why would they do that?

I'd rather listen to Irish any day than Marty Morrissey or Ger Canning

Most of the programmes on it this evening were in English

I'D rather if all stations gave the option of no commentary and just the stadium noise, be far better than having to listen to other people's opinions while watching the game

TG4 showed a number of Division Two games in football last year, and IMO overall we've very little to complain about. If it weren't for them, vast swathes of the GAA landscape- club games, women's Gaelic games, third level competitions, Hogan Cup, league matches- would go uncovered, as RTE have no interest in covering these games (or at least televising them).

As for the red button argument, that's a non-starter. TG4 does a lot with very limited resources as it is. They do provide closed subtitles for a lot of their documentaries, dramas etc. but these are scripted shows, unlike live sports broadcasts, which makes it easier to provide translation. In any case, the channel's mandate is to provide Irish-language programming as much as possible, so there's no reason to provide an English medium alternative.

In my opinion TG4 does do us very good deals and matches of all sort all year round which I take for granted and appreciate. But division one matches aren't the only matches in the league

I agree Royaldunne the red button would be a great option and while we're on the subject of Irish wtf is the story with the bank machine option of English or Irish what's that all about? I'm from Clondalkin when I go to a bank machine I like to get it done quick before the gangster's come and rob me cause of bleeding Irish or English option taking to long. Is it a necessary option on a bank machine?

It hardly adds an hour into your atm time it's one press of the screen takes a split second and gives people an option of what they would rather hardly something to complain about, if your going to be fleeced they have already seen you at the machine so your numbers up regardless of what language your typing in.

TG4 showed ten live games in the NFL and NHL outside the top division this season. People have to stop inventing problems where there are none.
