Paul Geaney

Paul Geaney is playing flying form this year. Can win his own ball whether high or low and handy on right and left foot. Is he guaranteed all star/player of year nominee?

The reality is there are no Kerry players on All Stars yet. Lose to Dublin and you get none. Beat Dublin and you get 5. Beat Dublin and Mayo and you get 10. You also get player of the year. That player will be the best Kerry player over those two games. On form, I think Dublin will win which means no all star for Geaney.

Lonely footballer imo.

Very dangerous and I expect him to really take the game to Dublin next week.

Nothing guaranteed at this stage and all stars will be very much determined over the next month or so.

For all the talk about him i have yet to see him do anything for me to say he is a top forward? Not in top tier for me at all.... Yet....

There are very few nailed on all stars at this stage. Possibly Quinlevan for Tipp. Geaney is class but needs a big game v Dublin. He will be well watched and will probably be working off scraps but I'd still fancy him to come up with a few scores. Much like JOD he has had a torrid time with injuries the past few years so let's hope he can put that behind him.

Come on lad give it a rest.
We get enough stick on here without bringing it on ourselves.

I think Paul Geaney is one of Kerry's hardest working players on the field

have to agree Paul Geaney is a very good corner forward but nailed on for an all star, no way and def not in the elite corner forwards.
in time hopefully, but compare him to a fully fit james o donoghue i would take James anyday of the week...just a pity I don't think JOD is fully fit or up to speed for intercounty at the moment

He's good but he's not in the same class as Gooch,Jod, Declan O Sullivan tbf not many players are , Ziggy your opinion but come on that's a crazy statement. Geaney is good but will never have the pace to be a Kerry great imo. No doubt he'll score a hat trick next Sunday after this post.

That's the thing, he could well score a hat trick he has it in his locker.

IMO he's one of the only out and out poachers in the game, all seems to think about is getting scores. While Gooch and Declan might do a lovely bit of skill in a game or skin 5 lads on a solo run Geaney just keeps that score board ticking. When he's on form he's a great man to watch

Uncle fester you must never of seen Bernard Brogan play if you think geaney is the only out n out poacher in the game. I don't think the Kerry posters rate him as high as some posters outside of Kerry

A very effective, "does what it says on the tin" type forward. In the pantheon of great Kerry forwards past and present though, he's not quite at that level I'd say. But certainly a player Dublin shouldn't take for granted by any means.

Question for Kerry lads

If Geaney is so good (and i am not sayign he isnt, this is a genuine question), why does EF keep dropping him for the biggest games, and when he does come on, especially V Dublin, he does little or nothing?

I wouldnt have him near JOD, Cooper or even Darran in terms of Kerry forwards that strike fear into me.

He's an automatic starter when fit. He has had a succession of injuries over the years meaning he's always either injured or coming back from injury unfortunately. That seems to be a theme with most of our forwards.

I think he has yet to prove he is among the best forwards in the country but it's in him. He is very accurate and has a brilliant eye for a goal. He'd make any county team (yes, even the mighty Dublin)

Liam in Geaney's defense he did start last years All ireland final and got 2 points from play. A game of low scoring and Kerry's chances were at a minimum.
It was a joke himself and JOD were taken off 5 points out of 9 between them.

Geaney is our best score taker with JOD.
He's been blighted with injuries and was injured last summer ( went straight for operation after the final )
If Kerry are to win on the 28th Geaney will be one the main reasons.
