Quarter Finals - TV coverage

(Oldest Posts First)

Mayo v Tyrone / Dublin v Donegal both on Sky with tomorrow's two quarter finals on RTE

I know the - "money is good for the game" argument has been done to death on here but the wisdom of the Sky deal comes home to roost somewhat with the way the draw had fallen this year.

This is terrible scheduling. What looks like a very attractive double header will be unavailable to the vast majority of the TV viewing population. Also likely to be a full house in Croke Park?

To say that this will be a full house is the understatement of the year.

All four teams are well supported & with Dublin apparently itching for revenge for 2014 we can only assume that the blue clad hordes will be out in huge numbers.

Donegal Dublin alone would sell out.

You'd imagine it'll be a sellout alright. I'd say a standalone Dublin v Donegal game would bring in 50 / 60k so with Mayo involved on the same day it'll sell out. They bring huge support.

Agree with all this although it is as much to do with three of these teams being at the cutting edge of championship football for a f
ew years now. In 2011 when Mayo were involved at q/f stage involving 3 other counties with in fairness poor support (aside from an all ireland final) there was only 22k at it. This will be barely beaten today. Mayo support has ramped up since that win over Cork in 2011. Donegal likewise. Dublin always have decent support and Tyrone are no shrinking violets in this regard.
