Does Diarmuid Connolly have his own rules?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Once again a Dublin player gets away with a blatant indiscretion on the pitch. That was a reckless, dangerous grab of a player's neck that should have seen a straight red let alone a black. Tell us now the Dubs and Connolly DON'T get special treatment. It's gone beyond a disgrace now.

Should've been 2 red cards in Leinster Final

Connolly's was not a black card. It should've been a red. It's ridiculous to get a guy in a head lock and drop him to the ground. There's just as much opportunity to hurt a player doing that as punching them.

Carew also should've gone for the arm lock he put on Dean Rock. There's no place for that in the game.

I've seen him do worse think your trying to find a reason to hate. There's no doubt he's plays with aggression and gets himself wound up at times but it was handbags. I hate the lad but you've got to admire his ability one of the best naturally gifted footballer.

I'd be one of Connollys biggest fans but his poor contribution today led to his own frustration, the Westmeath player pushed his buttons and red mist descended. However whatever the ref should/shouldn't have done, Dublin should have subbed him immediately he was poor. But I thought the ref was correct in how he handled it.

In hindsight for a chokelock a red card is merited.

I've true to post on this several times. However there seems to be one rule for Connolly and another for any other player. Graham Reilly was called every name under sun for a accidental kick on him, but when its Connolly nothing can be said.
I'll try again, it was a despicable act from behind, and it wasn't a yellow card, it wasn't a black card, it was a straight red, now more than likely cause of who he is and who he plays for it would have been overturned. But it was red , end of story.

Imagine the reaction from the Dublin media and HS if it was Paul Galvin who did that................................

Yeah he tossled his hair. That's really pushing his buttons alright. I suppose it could be worse...he could have reacted like the Tyrone man last year who fell to the ground like a ton of bricks when the same thing was done to him last year.

Dublin have their own set of rules. Ref gifts them handy frees start of second half that opens a gap. Westmeath give up. Why are the refs always Dublin biased? Why do we never get a ref biased against them? Not like they need the extra help.

If lads want a red card for what Connolly did then GAA really is on its last legs. Christ almighty it was a harmles tussle. Yellow at most.

In fairness Seamie O Shea only got a yellow for a similar offence in last years semi final replay against Dublin. Oh no wait...........

They'd be frothing at the mouth if Aidan O'Shea so much as looked at Connolly in a way they didn't like.

Keegan got Connolly in a chokelock last year. What was the punishment? SoS did likewise with Cooper last year & got a black so i believe either a yellow or black was merited in this instance. This one he got away with. Others he doesnt. He's way too liable to being provoked and teams know it. Gavin needs to sanction him somehow.

every incident now descends into a "who don't what before" debate. Posters deflect away from their own man/team back t past incidents. It's boring...
