Knee Bandages

(Oldest Posts First)

Just noticed on main page - story on Tyrone 2003 team. Notice a number of players with the thin bandage below the knee. I remember this 'fad' at my club (half the team had them on) but doesn't seem to happen now. Or, the massive knee support with small hole for knee-cap to see what's happening. Any physio out there want to explain if the 'fad' knee band worked?? And why has it went out of fashion??
(Sad to see the pic of Cormac McAnnallen in that photo it has to be mentioned. A fine specimen of a man, taken way too soon!!)

Patellar straps I think your talking about, they help with pain I found, I'm not a physio but have had knee trouble, I think you see them still quite a bit, the big knee bandages seem to be a thing of the past probably due to better results from acl operations and better physio methods for recovery, I tore my acl 3 times and just left it be the last time as the joint is fairly banged up now anyway from all the knocks and wear and tare

The knee bandage
The nose strip (a la Robbie Fowler)
The black insulating tape wrapped below the knee/above ankle, round fingers, over eyes etc
The green go faster boots
Imagining you are in Riverdance and do a wee jig as you start your run up to take a free kick
Taking the 'standing side on to the posts before a free' a step further and starting off facing the opposition goal then doing a wee pirouette before kicking

Just some of a number of the things people do that they think will make them better, more accurate etc etc
