The Qualifiers and Laois and Armagh discussion thread

(Oldest Posts First)

The GAA have fixed the time of the LAOIS V Armagh game in Portlaoise for 3.30 when Ireland will be playing Belguim in the euro's...

Are the GAA punishing Laois for complaining and protesting against the Nolan park Fiasco?

I know it's a different sport but you can be certain up to 70% of both Supports would be out supporting the boys in Green...

Armagh lads probably won't even travel to Portlaoise now ...why not change it to 4.30 give eveyone time to watch the match and then stroll up to O'Moore Park and it could turn out to be a fine evening and a great atmosphere if Armagh traveled in numbers....

As for the game itself it looks like a tough draw for both sides and is without a doubt the stand out tie especially with the media/Armagh craic going on...

I think there could be a bite in Armagh and despite Laois haveing a good record over the years in qualifiers I think in recent times they have lost the appetite and loosing to tipperary twice and Antrim at home last year wouldn't fill you with confidence.

Loosers of Meath-Louth v Derry is probably the pick of the rest and Derry having home advantage will probably be favoured to win it..

Wicklow and Carlow will be happy with there local derby draw...I think wicklow might sneak it..

Again Leitrim and Waterford will be happy with the draw and home advantage will see the Shannon siders home.

Offaly-Westmeath will take care of London and will be happy with that progression but its a toss of a coin to see who will be playing the Exiles..

Down v Longford will be close but home advantage will swing it...

Antrim v Limerick A long trip for the treaty county I think antrim will win this easily

Wexford v donegal or Fermanagh it will be a tricky test for one of these teams and fermanagh and wexford know each other well.(if its that pairing)

Armagh and Laois have both asked the GAA to pospond this match till 4.30 but its being refused!

MADNESS

How can you promote the game in Laois they draw the dubs at home for the first time in years and its played in Nolan Park then the get a tough but plum draw against Armagh(the pick of the games)and they decide to play it when the biggest sporting event in four years is on .....

I bet you if the Dubs had lost their game with Armagh would not be throwing in at 3.30pm next Saturday!

Typical GAA arrogance, both counties are big GAA followers however there is certain sporting events which will GAA people will be interested in. Ireland participating in major touraments with its marketing being such an event. A big opportunity for Portlaoise and Laois GAA lost. I cannot see there being more than a thousand at the game. The TV company will be delighted though.. they should get good viewing figures from the 15th minute.

I'm going off topic here but I hope this year teams in the qualifiers will have adequate time between games to recuperate. Last year there were a few blow-outs . Cork (played previous weekend) v Kildare. Kerry v Kildare (played weekend before). Laois (played weekend prior) v Antrim
