Referee Selection

(Oldest Posts First)

Once again we had major blunters in a a hurling final, the scorekeeping in the Christy Ring Final and the failure of the officials to act when the Mayo player deliberately struck the armagh player Coulter with his hurl right in front of both the referee and lineman.
The referees in both case were from tipp and limerick - the traditionally strong counties...... while if these referees were from Carlow or Leitrim the comment who have been they should be from the strong counties....... over the yrs it is amazing to see so few referees from Meath/Carlow/Longford/Down/Sligo?mayo/Antrim/Tyrone/Monaghan/Kildare/Roscommon etc refeering at a major competition

i agree it was sending off but only two decent hurling refs in meath fergus smith and nick Fitzgerald how fergus smith never made it to the top Amazes me maybe headquarters do not give this lad a chance. Now on the ref getting score it happens feel for the poor guy he genuinely made a mistake
